JOE’S HILL, Tortola, VI- Reports reaching our news centre indicate that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between Social Security Board (SSB) and Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) – BVI School of Medicine for housing at Joe’s Hill Manor Estate.

It is unclear what exactly is included in the MoU; however, it is believed some of the apartments will be used to board overseas medical students and staff.

To date, 38 students have already been accepted to the campus, with 60 percent hailing from the United States, 35 percent from Puerto Rico, and the remaining five percent from various international locations. Two of the applicants are from the Virgin Islands.

PHSU will operate from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) campus in Paraquita Bay.

Efforts to get an official comment from both parties proved futile up to the time of publication.

More details to follow.

First-time Homeowners Programme

The development of the Joe’s Hill Manor Estate was initially a first-time Homeowners Programme with homes constructed on seven acres of hillside with views of commercial Road Town and the South Coast Harbour.

As part of the 7 acres of land, the housing community is made up of twenty-five (25) buildings: comprising fifty-two (52) residential units and one (1) commercial space.

Apartment units at Joe’s Hill Manor Estate are reportedly still available; however, many residents have complained about the cost to own one.

Prices, according to SSB, start at $275,900.

Some money needs to be made from those homes. As it stands no money is being made, which is a bigger waste.

the medical school to the to the Joe's Hill Manor Estate. Convert some of the apartments to class rooms. Keep the HLSCC OUT of this medical education program because they will ruin it!

@Junie. I totally agree with your comment. What to say why the Government is not pushing to have the price lowered to meet the needs of prospecting buyers? If they were really intended to facilitate first time home buyers ( which we all can presume to be middle age and younger generations) why priced them so high in the first place knowing the cost of living is high and minimum wages are low. Look. If these legislatures can't fight to help our people to make headway in life, then we need to vote for a whole.fresh generation and take all those in council out, when Election come around. Tired of lame excuses!

What the goal and objective of this housing project? Was the average price of $275K a reasonable intended to reach the working class family? Was the price intended to freeze a certain group of people? Who to blame for this ‘ white elephant’ dystopian fiascos, was it the SSB, Government, HoA? Should government subsidized the purchase of houses? Should the whole gang get a cut -ass with a cat-o-nine tail for the assishness? What a big SNAFU?

This was so deceitful, it claimed to be built for 1 reason and is being used for another. The only people that benefited from this is the. Already wealthy. So sad
