McMaster, Hodge & Brathwaite to rep VI @ Worlds in Budapest

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The British Virgin Islands Athletics Association (BVIAA) has announced that the [British] Virgin Islands will have a total of three qualified athletes competing at the World Outdoor Championship scheduled to take place in Budapest from August 19 to August 27, 2023.

The team to Budapest will consist of athletes Kyron A. McMaster, currently ranked 4th in the 400m  hurdles on ‘The Road to Budapest’ website with a season’s best time of 47.26 seconds, Rikkoi A.R. Brathwaite, entering the event ranked 47th in the 100m using the points ranking system and Adaejah T. Hodge, currently ranked 14th in the 200m with a time of 22.33 seconds.

Track action for team VI will formally begin on August 19, with Brathwaite, in the 100m, on August 20, with McMaster in the 400mh and Hodge on August 23 in the 200m.

According to the BVIAA, the team coach will be certified World Athletics Coach Ralston Henry and the physiotherapist will be Martin Wilson, a UK national with close ties to Team VI, having served a similar role at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

    To all three of you, go out there and roar like the lions and lioness that you are. We are already proud. Your qualifications to go to Budapest and compete with the world's best is because you are three of the world's best.
