ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Word reaching our news centre from sources within the National Unity Government is that the House of Assembly (HoA) Sitting scheduled for Thursday, May 19, 2022, has been postponed.

This was confirmed moments ago by HoA spokesperson, Tameeka George.

In an email within the last hour to the media, she noted: “the Third Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly, which was scheduled for Thursday 19th May, 2022 has been postponed until further notice”.

Ms George could not be reached for comments as to the reason for the sudden postponement.

It was also our understanding that dates and summons for three consecutive new Sittings were already sent out. It is unclear why this was necessary at this time or if it had anything to do with trying to unseat any member who could not be there.

Speaker designee pull out?

However, other sources have told our news centre that it could have been because the new Speaker Designee, Virgin Gordian Attorney Hakim T. Creque, has reportedly turned down the offer because of current employment commitments.

Mr Creque's selection for the Speaker's Office was a story first and accurately reported by our news centre on May 13, 2022.

The search is now on once again for a new Speaker.

Mr Creque is employed at a private law firm of Martin Kenney & Co., a multi-jurisdictional investigative and litigation practice based in Road Town, Tortola.

Willock casualty of negotiation?

It was on May 3, 2022, when former Speaker Julian Willock announced that he was forced out by the new Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).

Mr Willock noted that because of his respect for the new Premier he would "not reveal the real reason what he was told in confidence", as to why he was asked to resign.

Many have lauded the former Speaker who was sworn in on March 12, 2019, for uplifting the standards of the HoA and creating much interest in the institution.

The Fourth HoA has been the most active in the history of legislatures in the Territory, with over 45 bills being passed and Siting almost every month, since March 12, 2019.

Weeks before his resignation, the former Speaker Willock led a delegation of HoA legislators on a fact-finding mission to London to review the House of Commons operations.

The seven-member delegation met with Speaker of the UK House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle and many other UK Parliamentarians to review ways of using some of their methods to strengthen the local democratic institution.

I'll take this short term job as speaker of your re-organized BVI legislature. I'm a retired lawyer who lives on St. John above Leinster Bay and breathe the toxic smoke from your burning dump every day. I'll just commute on the ferry whenever you 12 guys have a meeting, sitting, session, what ever you call it. When do I start?

That's what I was thinking. Why do they need a new speaker asap when Smith is deputized to act for this same reason.

Go to the head of the fountain and STOP ASSUMING. Ask a question first before trying to put the man on blast. That's just the best of some of ayo here in the BVI. What a sad set.

@ Silent Majority. The more you ask Britain to save your sorry behind means the more likely chance of us losing our Constitution and freedom. Why would you call your Slavemaster to put you back in bondage? Yeah, and the rest of you who think like Silent Majority are the slavemasters just waiting to jump into their new positions being overseers over the OTs. Careful what you wish for.

the mindset is to have 3 sittings the rep from district one might not be able to attend the scheduled sittings and somehow once you miss 3 sittings actions would be taken to remove you from the house

but the high science from the number one rep working because the first sitting did not get off the ground
    • soo (19/05/2022, 14:06) Like (2) Dislike (2) Reply
is there a rep from district 9? not dict 1 alone in this situation dist 1 and 9 does not have a rep there i think. so what you saying have no merit and there are new ppl in this unity party all who lose their seat already did so.

Is Mr Wheatley not still the representative for the 9 district. He is still a member of the Government. He is simply not a minister.

UK needs to step in now, no one with dignity will want to be apart of this clown show. Celine and his pack of wolves still have full control of these clowns so they all needs to go sit and let the bvi be run by ppl that have sense of direction. You people protest and talk about UK direct rule will set the country back and the youths will not have a future but if the country continue to be played with by these so call politicians it will so be a bit sanctuary.

We brought it out of a bird sanctuary and now you envy us. We can bring it out of another sanctuary. BVI donot have to be in any fast lane to please you guys who running from your big country that is far more toxic than the BVI. BVI was good before the influx. There is no way the entire world can fit in a small place like this. You guys spend 24-7 bashing the BVI. Because the BVI is smal you big country people think that you all should be in control and that is your motivation. It is a fact that other countries have more problems than the BVI. Go and tell them that they are not fit to run their country. Every body regardles to where you are from make mistakes but everybody everywhere else beside the BVI get the opportunity to learn by their mistakes but you people are too anxious. I am so sorry that Andrew let the masters of the game tie him up but why should the whole country suffer. And suffer we will if UK take over we can tell by the hate and vengeance you all spitting out daily that you all are bad people with no good intentions.

@Lucky... A sense of direction? Direction to where and by what means? They are strong arming us into this position successfully. Amidst ALL of what was done wayward, the economic position of the BVI has been impeccable still on the international scale! Can we stop the nonsense please. Ya'll seem to love the white supremacist idea of a slave master. 70 and more years of getting us to the level we are today, only needs improvement from where we have strayed and gotten accustom! Not because YOU see no direction, means the same for the country.

@ silent majority. We don't want no stinking Britain coming down to take over anything. Britain needs to stay their rass over there and allow us to get back on our feet through our appointed leaders. They don't even want to give us a chance because they know we can make a comeback on our own. Stop with this slave mentality that we cannot do without them. We can and we will. Britain has their own monster problems to deal with, with that crazy Boris and his sidekicks.

"The UK has given the BVI many chances but the same crap goes on and on, It's time for them to TAKE OVER."

Dam I thought our politicians were following the UK example, however they are amateurs in comparison when it comes to repeating mistakes.

How about that UK co-sponsored war in Iraq looking for non existent weapons of mass destruction, the war in Libya that arguably set the whole of Africa back and created a hot bed for terrorist, the failed war in Afghanistan, the Indian wars. How many people of color do they have to kill and dismember before we establish its a ghastly pattern...

The same crap goes on and on. Our politicians are saints in comparison to those crimes. Yet they are left to correct their mistakes after mass murders, slavery, colonialism, unjust wars, exposed malignant propaganda campaigns targeted at their own population.

Same crap goes on and on

@GREG @ yes reply person. What a reach. You need lots more education before you can carry on. What a poor poor education. We call that kind of dribble Half baked. Stay in you lane. Do you know how slavery began with the Kazarian-Zionists, and the first Wall Street Market? Do you know why? Or do you listen to some radio show. You may want to start your research there because you’re just reading Headlines and scrambling them all together. And BVI doesn’t need your colonial jumbo. Let’s talk Blockchain, digital commerce, free Quantum internet, Quantum Financial Sevices, online resources, quantum phones world wide. Come out of the depressing dark. Your BVI people that you believe you represent want resources and free internet, possession of real estate, technology that is cheap and that help make life easier. I’m sure they know all the rubbish you spew over and over, enslaving their minds. You are the oppressors. Can you design a website. Kids do now a days can. And they are brown, black, white, yellow. Do you know how to create contracts or electric cars? Let your people breath. I may be your people.
