Marlon Lanns lands $3,500 top prize @Carrot Bay Fisherman’s Tournament
Lanns and his fellow angler recorded the tournament’s highest overall catch, weighing in at 297.75 pounds. Sea Hawk also produced the competition’s biggest fish, a 14.30-pound catch, earning an additional $200 prize.
Lanns received another $200 after capturing the Special Fish award for a 14.30-pound kingfish.
Smith Robin of Robin II placed second overall and received $2,500, while Patrick Stout of Flounder finished third and collected $1,000.
Other awardees
The tournament’s other $200 award winners included Alison Fahie of Flounder, who was named Woman Angler after recording a combined catch of 46.50 pounds with Sterling Stout. At 18, Stout was also recognised as the tournament’s Youngest Angler.
Three participants were officially registered for this year’s competition, which formed part of the Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta.
The annual fishing tournament celebrates the Virgin Islands’ rich fishing heritage while promoting responsible fishing, community participation and appreciation for the Territory’s waters and maritime culture.
