The Marina Manager is responsible for the operations of the marina and ferry boats; ensuring a safe environment for guests and employees in these areas.

Reporting Relationship:  The Marina Manager, reports to the General Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commercial Captains license preferred.
  • Ability to make sound judgments quickly.
  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines.
  • Able to work in a teamwork environment, take direction and provide direction to others.
  • Manage differing personalities within the office, the hotel and the community.
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful, high pressure situations
  • Ability to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Be able to spend long periods of time on your feet, sitting or working in close quarters.

Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to speak and hear.
  • Frequent walking with some standing at times.
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual

dexterity and fine motor skills.

  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly.
  • Able to spend long periods of time on your feet, sitting or working in close quarters.
  • Able to work early mornings and late into the evenings.

Duties:

  • Sell, manage and operate the marina as a stand-alone business unit.
  • Create strategic partnerships and drive new business into the marina.
  • Lead the business unit with an operational and hands on approach.
  • Organize sales and marketing efforts with the General Manager.
  • Ensure the safe handling, mooring and docking of small and large vessels.
  • Ensure that all boats are greeted by marina staff upon arrival into the marina.
  • Ensure the marina is kept clean, safe and organized ant all times.
  • Ensure the Resort Ferry operates on time and within the laws of the land.
  • Maintain the resorts fleet of boats at all times, ensuring that all check lists are completed and filed.
  • Ensure all scheduled maintenance services are performed on time and records are documented.
  • Ensure resort boats are kept clean and ship shape above and below the water line.
  • Create productive relationships with guests, clients and members of the community.
  • Maintain staff schedules for Dockmaster, Dock Hands, Captains and Mates.
  • Purchase necessary supplies for Marina and resort boats.
  • Ensure ancillary items (electricity, water, trash and ice) are charged properly to guest folio accounts.
  • Maintain the working performance of the slip pedestals and dock safety equipment.
  • Any other duties assigned by the manager or supervisor.
