ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has acknowledged the protest action in Road Town by a handful of persons on June 2, 2025, and the formal submission of a letter outlining longstanding and critical national concerns.

The Premier, in a statement on June 3, 2025, thanked individuals and groups who have taken the time to voice these matters in a structured and respectful manner.

“Civic engagement is a cornerstone of a healthy democracy, and your voices have been heard,” Premier Wheatley said.

The protesters, numbering about eight, said they were fed up with the lack of consumer protection, the poor state of roads, and the lack of potable water, among other things.

According to Premier Wheatley, his administration continues to take these concerns seriously.

“Many of the issues raised are already being addressed through ongoing initiatives to improve the quality of life for all residents. These include efforts in infrastructure development, public sector reform, cost of living adjustments, public safety enhancements, and strengthened social support systems.”

Concerns ‘not being ignored’

The Premier also urged every resident to read or listen to his recent Territorial Address to better understand the work being done across the Territory.

He also said information is shared on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month to ensure transparency and continued public engagement via the Government’s televised and radio programme, Virgin Islands Voice.

“While some matters require long-term planning and resource mobilisation, others are already showing signs of tangible progress. We remain committed to informing the public as further steps are taken and timelines for additional initiatives are established.

“Let me reassure you: your concerns are not being ignored. My administration remains fully committed to delivering real, measurable progress that reflects the needs and aspirations of all who call these Virgin Islands home,” Premier Wheatley stated.

i dont want to hear no complaints in the comments cuz yall didnt have no backbone to show up for march against all this nonsense

yall proved to the politicans that you are afraid and satisfied with the status qou.

The politicans were actually afraid of this march and tried their best to sabatoge it.

that shows we the people have some serious power but yall afraid and weak minded. It shows that they know what they've been doing for past decade was pure nonsense and corrupt

all them need is independence to do whatever them want now.

hopefully u will have a backbone to vote for against that!

i for one thank hbh for shining a light on these issues, he maybe a unconventional but he seems like he cares about the country, which is more than most of those who are hating on him, who are only doing so because they most likely are benefiting from the corruption

You, me, and all of us know you lying. What issues have you and YOUR government addressed and REMEDIED? Every time someone mentions a problem you guys always pacify by saying it’s being addressed. Most politicians are business owners, or have shares in businesses, so we know you guys ain’t willing to do for us. You all lie to our faces and r@?€ us in every hole we own including our pores. Politicians are like cancer! You guys don’t seem to realize that the decisions you make while getting what YOU want causes stress which leads to physical and mental illnesses. YOU all destroying the moral fiber of this country and I pray GOD has mercy on some of YOU. Especially the ones who sign off on the crap YOU keep doing because they want to keep their seat. But I want tell the other ministers the person you need to impress is NOT the premier, it’s US!!!
