HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI- A security guard at a nightclub in Long Bush is nursing wounds to one of his hands after he was reportedly attacked by a man wielding a machete on Sunday night, October 18, 2020.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, the man had become furious after he attempted to enter the nightclub without a mask and was stopped by the security guard, who allegedly told him a mask was required for entry.

The irate man reportedly left the premises but returned shortly after with a machete and approached the security guard in an aggressive manner.

The security guard allegedly reacted by holding on to the weapon; however, the man pulled the machete away, causing the security guard to sustain severe injuries to his fingers.

The perpetrator reportedly left the scene before police arrived.

It is unclear if he has since been identified and arrested.

@ASAP Sorry to burst your bubble. The BVI is not a Christian Society because the things that l havevheard and seen are from the so- called- Christians. The ones that does not miss Church, prayer meetings, etc. I can give you endless stories but this is not the ace for that. In addition most of the bars if not all are owned by your local people and they employ island people to run them and may l add the owners are your Christians. If this is a Christian society all are Christians are headed for hell with your eyes wide open because non of you do not what Jesus would do or say. Finally the Idiot that harmed the security guard is one of your local ...so stop the island people rubbish...so put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!

@ no surprise. The Security Guard was right to tell the man to wears a mask. That is his job and that is the rule here to enter any public establishment. This guy went home, instead of coming back with a mask, he came back with a weapon, clearly to injure the Guard. My goodness, what in the world is happening here? I pray the Guard recovers, and I hope this idiot goes to jail for attempted murder. How dare he! Wearing a mask is what we all do to protect ourselves against the germs from COVID-19, and for those who don't want to wear one...stay your stupid asses at home! Throw the book at him with the highest of charges Judges.

Lock him up and throw away the key. He's a danger to society and if he's not from the BVI send him back where he come from.

I agree look at the fight it had in the bars with the ladies, video shows no one with mask and everybody gathered around looking and such. They needed to stay close until a better solution was made, The Chief Environmental Officer could talk all he want bars and night clubs still doing what they want, and yes I've been to one that's not complying by the rules.

It is sad to see how a BVIslander would continuously incite xenophobia and black on black hate with his repeated "Island" "deport" and other similar blogs. We know who you are. Yet you sit in your chair and pretend you have a care for the territory. Sickening.
    • tretretrete (20/10/2020, 06:48) Like (11) Dislike (0) Reply
If you commit a crime and you aren't from a place you should be deported. It's as simple as that.

You weren't accepted here to terrorize the people. You were accepted her to better yourself and add to the country.

Also I doubt everyone saying 'deport' is a VIslander. Imagine you come from a country and you're a law abiding citizen, fellow countrymen who commit crimes make you and your home country look bad. Some people who want him gone are probably his own.

Over the past 25 yearss, but more so the past 10 years, crimes in the B.V.I have dramatically risen to an intolerable level. There are many known reasons why this unwanted enemy enemy is terrorising the people, but of all the reasons, the chief one is selfish mindedness. Some of you may disagree with me, but none of you ca definitively over rule me. Selfish people are so self centered minded that they hold on to the view that they have the right of way, no matter what anyone else think, say, or may do. Such a mindset is equal to the mindset of Satan. Until we seek God our Creator help and agree with him for a mind reset, we will continue to suffer the consequences of (selfishness) sin. I recommend that the guilty person lawfully pay for this selfish crime committed. I aso recommend that his name be made known so that prayer be prayed for his and the community at large good.

This is sad...I have seen local people and our Caribbean people all break the same golden rule to wear a mask...

The issue hear is the wilful...disobedient...and unlawful behaviour of someone against a guard doing his job. We all need to encourage others to wear their mask and follow rules no matter where we are.

A speedy recovery to the victim. I hope this does not leave you with much damage physically and mentally. I cannot begin to imagine how you Felt staring this in the face. Get well and seek some counseling to get thru this. Than God you’re okay.

To the perpetrator, at no time did in click in your mind that you are wrong. Now everyone knows, in order to enter and business/ establishment, one has to wear a mask. You know this but still try to gain entry and when denied you inflicted harm in the guard. Suppose the guard retaliate on you. What would your family say. Now look in all kind a problems that could have been avoided by simply wearing a mask or leave the premises. Tell me something, nothing ain’t click in mind saying cool down, relax leave this alone. What happen common sense not working anymore!

You know what really sad about this and similar situation is the perpetrator always begging for mercy but fail to show any for their victims.

Headlines like this is so upsetting..I can never understand why persons have to behave this way! Rules are rules, and they’re there for a reason and in this case it’s to protect all of us.. bars, night clubs, strip clubs (and yes we have strips clubs but apparently a blind eye is being turned) need to be closed.. this man was wrong and I would say if he’s an expat committing this crime he needs to be deported And I make No Apology for saying this..no country need persons such as this in it.. and if he’s a local then the only place for him is Balo for a very long time - wicked man..in all my life I have never heard of a BVIslander using a machete to injure someone ..
