Man shot during robbery in Purcell Estate

PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI- Information reaching Virgin Islands News Online is that a man was shot during a robbery in Purcell Estate in the wee hours of Sunday, May 31, 2020.

According to reports, the victim, along with others, was on the 'Purcell Public Road' when they were approached by three men wearing masks.

The persons in the group attempted to flee; however, the gunmen caught up with one of the persons in the group and robbed him of jewellery and cash before shooting him twice, once in the abdomen and in the groin.

The victim, originally from Virgin Gorda, is said to be in stable condition at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

The incident allegedly occurred sometime around 1:00 am.

Police are said to be investigating.

      This happened in Tortola in Purcell. The victim is from VG. The people doing the robbing are just out and out crooks, whether there was a Pandemic or not. I really really hope they catch them, but the mask covered their faces.

    Now it's wrong for anyone to rob someone .,but if this person or persons were in there homes at the time because it's curfew time so you place your self in that situation. A thief is a murderer also. Speedy recovery to you but next time follow the rules and officers you all need to step up with the curfew enforce the rules do more drive through Purcell , Greenland,pharmtown, long look , cane garden bay that's give areas of interest you have the vehicles just your mere present will make a difference.

    Sad to hear this and hope the victim will recover well. On another note, a stopping needs to be put to theses hoodlums who going about robbing people, some body needs to out one Or all of them light. When you disobeyed laws things will always happen to you. 1:00am? Curfew starts at 7pm why we’re they not in their houses, if they were home that would have never happened.

      Not wishing bad on anybody, but these young men need to realize the more they floss and show themselves, they increase their chances of becoming a target for enemies and even people close to them.

      Everytime hour of the night i can see a police vehicle in my neighbor hood... What happen to these BVi cops seem like they like to sleep... Its not like they are walking or have to buy gas they have vehicles to drive. Drive them all over every where..two of you in a vehicle take turn drive....visibility is a deterant

    If anyone belives that 3 people were chased down by gunmen to be robbed of cash and some chains then gets shot twice STUPID comes to mind. They had just come from the smae place as the gunmen, they know who shot them , they just ain't saying.
