ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- An armed robbery and shooting incident occurred early this morning, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at a popular bar in the vicinity of Tortola Pier Park in Road Town.

The incident, confirmed by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), in a press release, verifies our newsroom sources, who revealed that two armed individuals entered the establishment and proceeded to rob patrons. During the robbery, a firearm was discharged, and a male individual was injured.

He was transported to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital, where he remains under medical care with “serious injuries”, the RVIPF stated.

Our sources said the victim, who was trying to escape, was “shot three times at close range by the assailant after which he fell to the floor, and the assailant allegedly took jewellery from him before escaping via the main entrance”.

Series of robberies reported

The RVIPF, in its press release, said the early morning incident follows a series of armed robberies reported within the last week. In one of the reported cases, a vehicle was stolen at gunpoint on Beef Island and later linked to another robbery in Road Town. In both instances, masked men brandishing firearms relieved victims of their valuables. No additional injuries were reported in those cases.

"We are deeply concerned about the recent spate of armed robberies and last night’s shooting. These reckless acts threaten the safety and security of our community and will not be tolerated,” Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline E. Vanterpool said.

Officers, she assured, are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible.

“We are asking members of the public who may have information to come forward and assist us in ensuring justice is served."

Robbers targeting people wearing jewellery at night

The RVIPF is advising members of the public that robbers are targeting people wearing jewellery at night.

Persons are therefore being encouraged by police to be mindful when wearing jewellery after dark and to remain alert to their surroundings at all times.

The RVIPF is also urging anyone with information to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at (284) 368-9339 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 or (284) 800-8477 from overseas.

Instead of getting out there and catching these criminals we are advised how to dress and what to wear.

    Ridiculous.

These criminals just bust through your door at home or some party. Too brazen.

    Police need to do better.

    Yea Boi
    I don't party
I don't be out late at night
    I don't be clubbing
I don't be out at bars late

So most times them gun man only catching party goers, night life people, clubbers, drinkers , smokers etc basically anyone who enjoys the "new culture" the young people picked.

So is like them attacking them own. You got dudes dressed up as robber's with guns and face mask and Jouvert and it's fun right? Not fun now is it?

    Stop glorifying criminality and guns
Stop partying wild to songs about drugs, sex ,violence gangs, guns and weed. Wake up young people y'all are promoting a dangerous lifestyle and the next generation will be even more wilder than the last. The rooster's will come home to roost and y'all won't like it.

Women stop promoting gangs and criminals and laying down with them cuz you won't like to catch a stray bullet.

Men stop chasing women who enjoys criminals and nightlife. Trust me they look good and professional during the day but them are sleeping and messing with some real low life That you won't even touch a stick with. Getting used and breed up only to end up a single mother or to end up used up and going thru them "soft girl era" after all the gunman and weedman done run down she body and no longer want her. So she hides her past and any future man she with cuz she knows why. Them girl see you traveling by them self or always posting pics of them self and them pretty but never seem to have a man present in the social light...there's a reason for that. Run!

Parents raise your son's well to be respectful and have morals and principles but tbh with all the domestic violence and single parent homes some times the parents ain no better or just like the criminals sigh. Then they breed for criminals to make more criminals and end up a single parent no ring ntn

Parents raise you daughters well to respect themselves and have morals and principles. Don't entertain no criminals who's below their self worth

Pray for the BVI mehson cuz we hard of hearing
