ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Kennedy Robin appeared before the Magistrate’s Court yesterday September 5, 2012 and pleaded guilty to the charges of reckless and drunk driving brought by the Crown against him.

According to the facts presented to the court by Crown Counsel Sara Benjamin, on July 15, 2012 around 11:40 am on the Sir Francis Drake Highway, the defendant who was driving at the time got into an accident with another vehicle.

Statements given to officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force by the Virtual Complainant stated that she slowed down and came to a stop on the highway, because the vehicle in front of her, stopped to let out a passenger.

The VC claims that shortly after stopping, she heard BAM! That is when the defendant drove straight into her vehicle.

When officers arrived on the scene, the defendant allegedly told the officers “I was driving down from town to West End, she stopped in the junction….I didn’t know what was going on and I hit her.”

The facts supplied by the officers to the court, also indicated that while they were speaking to the defendant, the smell of alcohol was on his breath and he had trouble comprehending and trouble speaking.

Magistrate Valerie Stephens indicated that she remembered that Mr. Robin was also charged with drunk driving in a previous matter.
