Man goes berserk @ One Mart; Reportedly terrorises Fort Hill residents

FORT HILL, Tortola, VI - Reports reaching our news center indicate that sometime between last evening and the early hours of today, Saturday, January 28, 2023, a man who appeared to be of unsound mind began terrorising persons on Fort Hill and blocking customers from entering One Mart Super Store in Purcell Estate on the main island of Tortola.

Residents flooded our newsroom with calls and video clips showing the man in Fort Hill and the police trying to get him to stop his behaviour.

Mental illness in the VI

It is alleged that the same man, known to many as ‘Kit Hodge’, appeared sometime today at One Mart Store where he was reportedly guarding the entrance to the store and preventing customers from leaving or entering. 

At one point the man was seen sitting at the main entrance of the supermarket door hugging a trolly and further blocking customers from entering or exiting the supermarket. 

According to two eyewitnesses, police were called in and the man is believed to be in police custody.

As the story develops, our news centre will bring more information.

    YEP , DON'T BE SUPPRISED , WE BETTER GET ACCUSTOMED TO THOSE TYPES OF BEHAVIOR FROM THOSE CRACKHEADS WE BEEN CLOSING OUR EYES AT , AND POINTING FINGERS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION , TO CREATE DISTRACTIONS , SOON THEY WILL BE SHOWING UP AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AT VDIFFERENT TIMES WHEN THEY FLIP OUT ON COCAINE .       Look in the mirror and you will behold the Bum here. Kit is not no Bum and he definitely is not homeless. I agree with other Bloggers that he does need help in terms of drug addiction. But, meanwhile if Society will stop labelling and shutting out any means of giving people a chance to sustain and make improvements within their lives we wouldn't have incidents like these happening. All those who just running their mouths and pointing fingers while labelling and oppressing others better pray that such ill faithing incidents don't befall them. Nuff of them going to church but them heart so black they have to bad talk others to feel that they righteous. Only God knows what will be!

      Yes. Not for that. Just to see which staff or customer stealing. I am sure if that short black one from St. Lucia was there, the one acting like he bad and One Mart is his was there he would have try to man handle the crazy man, or he just acting bad and he too was scared and running..

      Don’t recall Security being stationed at One Mart.

      The One Mart workers would check your receipt from time to time when leaving.

      There was a Security Guard there lastnight after the incident but not sure if it’s a permanent thing.

        There is a paid security firm at One Mart, but most of the time they are busy rolling on the customers. Anyways kit has been acting up for a while now. I also saw they release Marvin gumbs back into the streets.

    These types of individuals really needs help. I don’t know who are the powers that be but they need to step in for all our mentally unstable residents who pose threats to society. Walking in Rite Way on Fleming Street to get lunch is often times scary with more like this guy right outside the door ready to curse at you and sometimes chase after you aggressively. There needs to be an intervention.

    There is another mental patient operating a bar on Smugglers Cove beach that the government, tourist board, police and the ministry of conservation and fisheries is fully aware of. Let's wait for him to chop up a tourist like mutton before we REMOVE him! PERIODT!!

      Is it the same one that operated a bar at Long Bay Beach, West End (not the hotel but on the beach itself)?

      If so, used to be cautious when he appeared from the through the bush when at Long Bay.

    Cant play with crazy people if you are alone run and leave them alone, them strong like Elephant if them hold you in a head lock and no one around to help you dead.. .These mentally ill folks need to be off the street, they are very dangerous to society, they are like walking time Bomb can explore at any time and be scary and disruptive..What happen at One Mart is a perfect example.

      Why you didn't feed him? I am quite sure he never beg ir ask yiu fir anything. It's People like you that makes it hard for individuals suffering internal heartbreaking emtions. These individuals will not go for any type of therapeutic assistance because of people like you( smh). Quick to pass judgement and render not an ought of assistance. It's rather unfortunate that this incidebt happen. I advise that these so called medical professionals( mental health or social health) get up off their high horses and render their services where it is much needed. If someone had gotten injured or lost their life, it will have generated the same disgusting comments from folks who don't know or give a darn about Kit. The two areas mentioned check the proprietors and find out what connection they have to Kit. Emotuonal struggles are very difficult to be dealt with when a person is done labelled and thus garnered no RESPECT or HUMANITY from Lawyers or people in Official capacity.

    Why is the BVI government afraid to build a mental institution/ Hospital ?
    Stop using the Pebbles Hospital for such ?
    You cannot have mental patients and regular sick patients at the same compound in the same building . This is madness in itself .

      Firstly,mentally ill patients are sick just like physically sick patients and deserve the same care and compassion that “regular patients “ get.The hospital is an acute care facility,and yes they should have a ward for individuals experiencing a psychiatric crisis.It’s not funny.These individuals did not choose to be this way just as individuals don’t choose to have cancer or a heart condition.Let’s be kind people.

    you seems cto be defending him ( and am not wishing anything ) buut if one day he meet your mom did something to her , would you be defending him or her ❓ ( and I knew his dad , he wasn't brought up like that , but that's just some of the side of cocaine . ( he and others like him needs help , drugs is all over the holy land , and these days you have yo be very careful nwho you eat and drink from , because you can neat nor drink it and get hooked , and Don't know how you will end up , it's a dangerous world we live in ( some people will do anything for money but bthat drug money is blood money and it will come back to haunt you and your family , and you ain't got to believe me , take a look back at those who was in the spotlight

    Your friend has company now , the girl who used to be at rite way harass people is loose again and both of them are back on the cene doing the same job again , as usual ( and smiley ☺ hollering out am going yo build a detention center , why don't you encourage him to build a mental center for those Crackheads , so find a job for them when they are released from treatment
