SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Police have arrested and charged Morgan Maduro with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Drug and Reckless and Negligent Act following a high-speed chase that ended in Sea Cows Bay on Monday, February 24, 2025.

A press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, Thursday, February 27, 2025, indicate that on the day in question, officers observed a heavily tinted Suzuki Jimny with its registration plates obscured by a dark film, while on patrol.

Maduro sped off when signalled to stop- RVIPF

The police report that when officers signalled the driver to stop, the vehicles sped off, prompting a pursuit.

They successfully intercepted the vehicle at Bound Tree Road, Sea Cows Bay where a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 24.7g of cannabis.

Maduro, the driver, was subsequently charged and granted $5000.00 bail. He is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on April 10, 2025. The press release added that additional charges for Traffic Violations are pending.

Comply with traffic regulations- RVIPF

The RVIPF is therefore reminding motorists to comply with traffic regulations and to stop when signalled by officers.

RVIPF also encouraged persons to report traffic violations or reckless driving by calling the RVIPF’s non-emergency line 311 or its Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or by anonymous reports through the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS).

first off the reason why weed is called a drug now is because it has been genetically altered to so such a high degree that it is no longer considered natural. Secondly that bag in the picture looks more like 24 ounces lol. I suspect hidden hands are at play for a favor to be pulled.

Why is it that police are only out on patrol close to pay day? Why is the system set up that way - to take the money from people when they receive it?

If you don’t know what’s the current date, once you hit Baugher’s Bay or Road Town, you’ll know pay day is within 48 hours. RVIPF, get your act together, it’s a shame y’all only patrol twice a month. And your schedule is well known.

I laughed sorry but 24.7 grams of weed and a whole high speed chase? Him and the officers risked death. Vehicle accident are one of the main cause of premature death. These youth are replaying the previous generation with this plant still being illegal. The plant hurts no one and prohibition of a harmless substance creates violent gangsters as it did with alcohol prohibition. Weed being illegal sure turns a lot of black people into criminals on their home soil, white people too but they are left alone. This youth will forever hate the police because of a plant known as a medicine.

Not one death ever reported on Tortola despite all the smoking that will go on at the Vybz Kartel concert.

I doubt the police knew what they would find before the chase and subsequent search.

This is very dumb. Weed is legal and it's a medicine in many places and the government sell it. This is how you know you all have low IQ. This is what you call mockery of stupidity. When are you all going to smell the coffee.

Ignorance for people who claim to be intelligent. @Hi when weed is legal persons will be able to grow whatever variety they want for their medical or recreational needs whether heirloom from 1960 or the newest USA legalized brand like tomatoes the choice should be yours. The fact you claim it is genetically modified and persons have no choice is due to its legal status.

The young man saw his bright future doing down the drain with a record over some green grass that god created and thus he decided to shake the popo like he was riding with a whole cake when in reality he was riding with under an ounce of cannabis. In the proposed legislation for legal VI cannabis written under the last governor & premier adult persons such as this man were to be allowed 50 gram which is two ounces.

With under a ounce is he even a dealer? Or is that his personal stash. When they said significant seizure I expected he had pounds.

This guy looks way too young to be not given a second chance with a clean record minus the traffic violations, but we create our own criminals by this senseless prohibition of a medical herb.

Her we go. All excusing the VI criminal. It is our culture. Look at all the excuses. It is illegal here. He was here. Just because he from here does not mean he can do things that are illegal. Take criminals pictures off the walls of the HOA. Stop supporting criminal behaviour. No wonder we have the criminal culture that we have. We even celebrate and support it.

There should be no question that the traffic issues (high speed race) is more dangerous to the public than the weed. Police need to charge heavily and clamp down on the drivers who endanger everyone.
