ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department reportedly seized an AK-47 rifle and a quantity of ammunition from a home in Free Bottom on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

One male was arrested and subsequently charged.

Keron Hodge, 21, of Purcell Estate, was charged with one count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and two counts of Unlawful Possession of Explosives.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a press release today, September 6, 2023, Hodge remains in custody until his appearance at the Magistrate’s Court.

‘Get involved in saving lives’- RVIPF to public

The RVIPF said it continues to do its part to reduce the number of illegal firearms on the streets and to arrest those persons in whose possession they are found.

The Force is appealing to the public to get involved in saving lives and keeping the community safe by providing any information on suspected persons or the locations where these firearms are being hidden or imported.

Persons can confidentially call the Crime Stoppers line 800-8477 (TIPS) or overseas call 1-284-800-8477 with the relevant information or contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

    Like just get a rocket launcher y don’t u? 23 square miles and this how y’all giving it up. What in the violent drug wars is going on? Tourism wise this is starting to look absolutely insane. No there’s not violence everywhere but in a contained 23sq miles, this is definitely a cause for concern.

    Those guns are to be used in wars or raids by the police in big countries. How in the world are they getting passed through here? So glad you caught at least one of these thugs. See if it matches the gun that shot down the poor young man last week or other murders, if so, throw him under the prison for life. This has to stop!

      You can walk into any gun store in the US and buy an AK, doesn’t take a lot to convert to fully auto.
      Judge should treat this as attempted murder as that is the only reason they have them, each gun is a murder waiting to happen. Lock him up.

    It appears as if there is a secret military force in the bvi look at the type of guns these young boys possessing well saw the money he spent for that could have been for a better use.
