LONG TRENCH, Tortola, VI - Police in an update this morning, January 1, 2024, have confirmed a shooting incident in the Virgin Islands (VI) just as the new year 2024 broke that has reportedly left one injured.
In an update labeled 'New Year's Shooting Confirmed' the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a Facebook post said one male has been injured and is currently receiving treatment at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, in Road Town, Tortola.
While the details of the shooting remain unclear at this time, police in an update said the incident occurred in the Long Trench area and that the injured male is in a stable condition.
Police PR officials have since described the incident as a somber start to the new year.
