ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9) is reporting major strides made over the past year in strengthening health care services, increasing support of vulnerable households and also improving access to social protection.

In his Christmas message this year, Hon Wheatley stated that, ‘’We have built systems that are reliable, compassionate, and focused on people.’’

He added that looking ahead, the ministry will continue looking at innovative approaches that will help shape a stronger future for the territory.

Hon Wheatley stated that a collaborative effort is needed to enhance the health care system in the Virgin Islands, stating that ‘’Building up better tomorrow requires more than policies and programmes. It requires partnership, patience, and shared responsibility. Government cannot do it alone.’’

Everyone has a role to play

He emphasised that each resident, each family, each organisation have a role to play in the path forward.

While reflecting on the past year, he stated that, ‘’we recognise both the challenges we faced and the progress we have made.’’

Minister Wheatley added that it is important to enter the New Year with gratitude for what has been achieved and determination for what lies ahead.

He called on Virgin Islanders to also consider how their actions today can positively impact future generations.

‘’We have built systems that are reliable, compassionate, and focused on people.’’

Is this why as a local entrepreneur with 3 businesses and a job that i have to submit 4 separate payments to NHI only to receive the benefits of 1 without an incremental increase?

So Why so many mentally deranged persons walking the streets and imprisoned?

The VIP will never accomlish their goals for the hospital with 2 NDP saboteurs leading the agency. No matter what anyone says about how professional they are.  Also the laws need to be changed so that going forward any institution as important as health cannot be held captive to partisan politics. If the memebers cannot not carry out the agenda of the governing party then that party should be given the ability to remove then period. If not we remain in a cycle of stagnation . health is too important.
