Magnitude 4.8 earthquake felt in the VI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- At approximately 3:49 AM on Sunday, September 3, 2023, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8, with an estimated maximum intensity IV, was felt in the Virgin Islands.

According to the Puerto Rico Seismic Network, the epicenter of this earthquake was at Latitude: 18.9 and Longitude: 64.48 at a depth of 26.6 kilometer.

No Tsunami Warning, Advisory, or Watch is in effect for the Virgin Islands, the Department of Disaster Management advised.

    Gotta give you guys credit .... you are the only news site (by far) that reports to the people quickly! EVERY other news site takes weekends off, public holidays off, and even then, reports days late on news events. Respect to your efforts.

      You are so correct. The only time most of the other online newsites report major things quickly is when it is something bad in the BVI or when they think it makes the BVI look bad or if someone from the BVI does something they feel is not good. They hate the BVI and its people with a passion.

    My floor was trembling. I thought I would have to run outside. It woke me up at around 3:30 or so. Scary and it was strong.

    No one wants to make the BVI or its people look bad. Murders, plane crashes, robberies, corruption are news - around the world! Maybe a new hospital opening or laws passing.

    What do you want them to write? Man drives elderly neighbour to hospital? Woman cooks nice meal for her husband? That is not news and readers aren't interested.

    It broke my heart. My son get up and running mommy mommy Earthquake he was so scared. I could see he ready to cry. I stood at my door and flash for a minute what terrible days are ahead to come and kids experience it what we parents would do. Help us, lord.

    I lay down and couldn't go back to sleep, thinking What if this were the end of the world? Lord many of us will be going to hell. It bothers me. Help Lord to be ready
