Magistrate's Courts on Tortola & VG switched to online 'as a security measure'- DG Office
The announcement was made in a short bulletin on October 29, 2025, which advised the public of this change.
“Persons are encouraged to contact the Magistracy directly to obtain the appropriate Zoom link for their scheduled hearing,” the bulletin continued.
Necessary for security reasons
When this news centre reached out to the Deputy Governor’s Office as to the reason why this decision was taken, another brief response was received.
“This step was taken as a security measure,” Mr Eusa Z. Adams, Communications Officer II in the Deputy Governor’s Office, replied when asked about the reason for this decision.
He did not elaborate further when asked.
The bulletin informed that the Magistracy may be reached at 1-284-468-4360 or via the Customer Service Care Centre using 1-284-468-3701.
“The Government of the Virgin Islands regrets any inconvenience caused,” it ended.

Even in this heighted security environment of increase gun crime that there is no stepping up of stop and search measures. which I can guarantee you would have nabbed some of these perpetrators of violence on our society. It is obvious that the limited resource of the armed response unit which obviously stretched at this time cannot step up to put more pressure on these criminals. At the same time pride is keeping us from asking Britain to send one of their usual small ship of soldiers to help to patrol with the along with our police officers. This way soldiers would be housed on the ship at no expense to the BVI while we get this crime situation under control. The present situation is going to escalates at this rate with the present band aid security measures being implemented. The present wait and hope situation cannot and will not work. There needs to be aggressive policing. The police are virtually invisible at this moment. There is no police presence. the hoodlums know they have a free hand to do as they like, driving around, scouting and choosing target with no possibility of being stopped and detained. Even the courts now are going into hiding because the police cannot guarantee their safety. When are we going to put away our prejudice and work along with the Governor in a meaningful way to ensure the security of the country. Speaking of the governor and the security council, are they a present or absent.
