Machete wielding man offered $6K bail
The unrepresented Joseph Freeman pleaded not guilty to threatening language and common assault and has to return to court in April when his trial will begin. According to Crown Counsel Jude Hanley, the file is completed in the matter.
It is alleged that on March 6, 2012, Freeman was at Richard’s Bar located upstairs of People’s Shoe Store armed with a machete. Patrons told Police that the defendant allegedly began to hit the table with the weapon and threatened to kill a patron, the Virtual Complainant, who was sitting there.
The patron became fearful for his life and called the Police.
Later that same day when Freeman was approached by Police, he allegedly took officers to the back of Rite Way supermarket, Flemming Street where he pointed them to a machete near a cistern.
