Lyndon A. Hodge appointed new Director of W&SD
It is believed the appointment took effect today, September 1, 2026, and Mr Hodge, a Virgin Islander, is already on the job. Mr Hodge holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of the Virgin Islands and a postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Roehampton.
Mr Hodge spent many years in senior roles in the Telecommunications Sector, including Caribbean Cellular Telephone (CCT) and Cable & Wireless Flow BVI, where he rose to Acting Chief Executive Officer. In those roles, he managed people and projects and had financial growth under his tenure, according to information obtained from online sources.
Hodge In! Alphonso Out!
With the merging of the Water and Sewerage Department with the BVI Electricity Corporation (VIEWCo), it is unclear what the Director’s full role is in the new structure.
Mr Hodge comes at a time when there are many communities without water, and the government struggles to fix the ageing infrastructure, including pipes, reservoirs and pumps.
He takes over from the Acting Director, Mr Von Alphonso, who is expected to revert to the Deputy Director post, according to the same Human Resources Officials.
Neither the Minister for Communications and Works, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5), nor Permanent Secretary Elvia Smith-Maduro responded to our request for their comment.
