Lydia S. George officially retires from FSC after 32 years
The FSC announced Mrs George’s retirement in a press release on January 5, 2026. She demitted office on December 31, 2025, having given 32 years of “dedicated service” to the FSC.
Mrs George joined the FSC as an Assistant Registrar of Companies in 1993. She rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities, including Assistant Registrar, Senior Assistant Registrar, and Acting Registrar. She was appointed Deputy Registrar of Corporate Affairs in 2004.
Among her lasting marks are the significant contributions she made to the administration and development of the Commission’s Registry of Corporate Affairs.
A great pleasure to work with her
Registrar of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Myrna P. Herbert, said Mrs George played a strong supporting role in helping to uphold the FSC’s mandate to maintain robust, transparent, and efficient registration of corporate entities in the Virgin Islands.
“It is difficult to imagine her absence. She knew and understood the inner workings of the Registry, and many industry participants regularly drew on her knowledge via their queries. It has been a great pleasure to work with her.”
She went on to wish Mrs George best wishes on her “well-deserved retirement”.
Dr Michelle L. Todman-Smith was appointed to the position of Deputy Registrar of Corporate Affairs in February 2025.
The release added that Mrs George, having given necessary support to the transition, has fully turned over the Deputy Registrar reins to Dr Todman Smith, who will continue to lead the operations end of the Registry of Corporate Affairs.
