BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Lucas Anton Findlay of the Joyce Samuel Primary School has won the 2025 Inter-Primary School Spelling Bee.

Fifteen primary school students competed in three rounds at the spelling bee finals at the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre Activity Hall in Baughers Bay, Tortola, this morning, Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

In second place was Dominique Ashley (Valley Day Primary), while Layla Saniana (Ebenezer Thomas Primary School) placed third. 

Other competing students were Azariah Chetty (Ciboney Centre for Excellence), Khymarri Davis (Francis Lettsome Primary), Mya Mohamed (St George's Primary), Jahlia Jacobs-Castello (Alexandrina Maduro Primary), Trojon Lennard (Bregado Flax Educational Centre Primary Division), Taylor Phipps (Enis Adams Primary), Nayeli Hayne Lloyd (St George's Primary), Naliny Frazer (First Impressions Primary), Khailia Greaves (Willard Wheatley Primary), Kyra Hendrickson (Leonora Delville Primary), Mayah Brathwaite (First Impressions Primary) and, Rylan Adams (Enis Adams Primary). 

Education Officer Tonya M. Bertie said, “The goals of the competition are to promote students' understanding of proper word usage and pronunciation; expand vocabulary and encourage a love of reading; inspire excellence in spelling and language skills; and provide students with an opportunity to connect and compete with their peers in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.”

The competition was organised by the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Road Town.
