Lots of 'chirping on the sidelines but we’ve got to get in the game'- Elvin G. Grant
During the December 9, 2025, episode of the programme on ZBVI 780 AM, Co-host Damion C. Grange said, “I think we have gotten to a place where we have surrendered our collective responsibility, and I think if we are going to see a better world, we cannot depend solely on the authorities.”
He said that while the authorities are there, everyone has a role to play.
[The authorities are there, but they don’t have information that we are probably aware of, then they wouldn’t be able to address some of the issues that we have.”
He added that as a community, “we cannot become complacent” and rely on someone else to fix the problems.
“It is our collective responsibility, and we all should do our part,” he said.
Do your part in some small way
Co-hosts Elvin G. Grant and Violet Thomas-Gaul agreed with Grant, adding that there is, in fact, a lot of complacency in the Virgin Islands.
“[There’s] a lot of chirping on the sidelines, but we’ve got to get in the game,” Grant added.
He explained that when Thomas-Gaul conceptualised Talking Points, it would have been easy to shy away and not become involved for fear of being targeted.
“But then I would be part of the problem,” he said, continuing, “So I much prefer to be part of the solution, and some are going to hate on the programme, some are going to love it.”
Grange reminded that the objective of Talking Points is to address topical issues with objectivity.
The three co-hosts all said that they try to stay true to the programme’s objective.
“Everyone [should] look within themselves and figure out what they can do to bring about some positive change, and goodwill and some love and joy…So we can all do our part in some small way that when we all do it, every mickle makes a muckle,” Grange added.
