Look who we caught on camera! Can you pick the next Premier?
As the 2015/16 general elections approaches, many have concluded that one of the two men photographed together yesterday at the races, Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) and current holder of the office Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith, will be the next Premier of the Virgin Islands.
While the two men have major political differences, economic philosophies, and often clash on policy directions, it seems like they had some moments to bond yesterday at the races as they were seen, more often than not, together whispering in each other’s ears.
However, we would not speculate too much on the conversations of the two party bosses but may leave that to the cartoonist’s creativity. Maybe, however, Premier Smith was doing an early handover or maybe he was telling Hon Fraser that he loves his office and he is not going anywhere!
The two were spotted at one of the many booths at the race track that is located in Hon Fraser’s Third District and it was unclear which one, if any, were ‘blowing the house’.
Then they were spotted again together in the middle of the concert section of the track platform, maybe asking each other to be nice in the upcoming elections or maybe Hon Fraser was begging for something to be done in his district.
It was good for many to see the two leaders being nice, civil and courteous to each other; as if you listen to the harsh rhetoric from some of their supporters and other elected members of the House of Assembly you would believe that both Hon Fraser and Smith are sworn enemies.
But one thing for sure, unless there is some freak act of nature that prevents the 2015/16 Virgin Islands elections, there will be either another four years of the National Democratic Party Administration under Premier Smith or for the first time in twenty years a new Premier that is not named O’Neal or Smith, but Fraser under a Virgin Islands Party Government.
However, once the music stops, the tempers cool, the spin and rhetoric pass, the headlines fade and are forgotten and the wagers end, only the people, that is the registered voters, will decide who will form the next government.

This due to comparing the 2 terms of the VIP (1999-2003 and 2007-2011) and the NDP (2003-2007 and 2011-present). NDP wins plus their slate of candidates looks much stronger.
Going green!!!!!
Hon. Fraser - You see..you need to have guts and balls to run this country. Which is what I Have!
Hon. Smith - Hahahaa..Oh really?
Hon. Fraser - Yes..thats why I am winning this election
Hon. Smith - (in his thoughts) Hmm..Being a doc, I may need to amputate this man.

Dr. Smith is the better Premier. I don't want England to take over. When we are in good house, don't let bad house call us.
They are both of the same cloth.
Dr. Smith and the next leader of the opposition more like it
