LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI- After making the Virgin Islands (VI) his home for over thirty years and originally from the Dominican Republic (DR), longtime resident Ramon Rosa De La Rosa, aka ‘Yellow man’ or ‘Centinela’, has died.

Mr De La Rosa lived in Long Bush on the main island of Tortola, was a Construction Manager and was also affiliated with the Mango Tree Car Wash in Long Bush.

He died on Monday, March 30, 2026, in his homeland at the Dr Franklin Pena Clinic in San Pedro de Macorís.

Mr De La Rosa was 54 years old and is survived by his wife Rossy De La Rosa and 2 children, a boy and a girl.

Missed by many family and friends

He returned home to the DR in December of 2025 for medical attention after complaining of stomach pain and was under medical care there as his condition worsened.

While in Tortola, he was described by many as friendly, hardworking, ambitious, kind and always willing to help or sponsor a round of beverages. He was very close to many business persons in the Long Bush area, from bars to barbershops to grocery and clothing stores. He is already being missed not only by the Hispanic community in the VI, but also by many in Long Bush, extended family and friends.

Mr De La Rosa was buried on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in the city of Consuelo. A family spokeswoman said Mr De La Rosa may have died from stomach cancer.

The staff and management of Virgin Islands News Online extend our condolences to his immediate family and other loved ones.
