TOKYO, Japan- Chantel E. Malone made Olympic history for the Virgin Islands when she booked her place in the final of the Women's Long Jump in Tokyo, Japan, moments ago, July 31, 2021.

Malone finished 3rd in Group B Qualification to secure an automatic qualifier to the finals slated for August 2, 2021 at 9:50pm.

After fouling in her first attempt, Malone cut the sand at 6.44m in her second attempt, which would not have been enough to see her through to the finals.

In her final attempt; however, Malone secured the automatic qualifier by clearing a distance of 6.82m (22’-4 1/2”).

Malone has a personal best of 7.08m which she established on March, 27, 2021.

      Malone, McMaster and Phillip have all made us proud at the Olympics. I continue to pray for their safety and success. If they bring back a medal a street or road should be named after them.

      It's a little bit prejudged as Kyron made it to, its just that one event was before the other so now the head line should be both Kyron and Chantel first bvi athletes to make the Olympics final-- hugh congrats to both, and let's not forget Phillip's being the first Olympian in swimming!

    I am so proud of Japan not to allow China virus, World health organisation and Bill Gates to cancel the Olympics. That's was their intention. Giving these young talented people the opportunity to display their talents before the world... Can't allow the Evil forces to shut down everything...
