Long Bush Christmas Day Parade to return after a near 10-year hiatus

The highly anticipated parade started in 2007 and was last held in 2013.
“We don’t know exactly why [it was not continued] but after so long, we missed it, we the people in the community and the BVI missed it, so we decided to revive it,” said member of the Christmas in Long Bush Committee Josette Allen during Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, December 4, 2023.

Mrs Allen said the Fourth District Representative Hon Luce D. Hodge-Smith is all on board with the event, which will start from 11:00 AM at the Long Bush Band Stand.
The committee member said patrons can look forward to food and drinks, live entertainment from at least 5 bands, bouncy castles for the children, train rides, and the committee is also looking at having donkey rides and pole plaiting.
Allen added that CCT has committed to enter a “float” in the parade, which will go through Lower Estate and return along Main Street.
The Long Bush Christmas Day Parade was a highly anticipated and colourful family event that drew large crowds over the 7 years it was held.
“We missed it after all these years and we just decided to form a committee and bring it back,” Mrs Allen stated.

From the first time it stared, it was such a wonderful cultural entertainment for the entire family.
had something to enjoy for the Christmas Day.
Keep up the good work!
