ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Local confectioner Ms Jehree D. Clarke of JD’s Candies will now have her products stocked on Windstar Cruises, thanks to a collaboration brokered by the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA).

Ms Clarke has recently been welcomed as a vendor for Windstar Cruises’ Wind Surf to deliver her signature coconut fudge when the ship calls to the [British] Virgin Islands and the coconut fudge will be added to the ship’s 'turndown service' when it departs the VI.

“I want to take this opportunity to encourage entrepreneurs of any age to always ensure that your best work is presented to your clients. This opportunity arose from the BVI Ports Authority taking JD’s Candies’ peppermint candies to Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 as a treat for people visiting their booth,” Ms Clarke added.

“I never expected a cruise line representative to be interested, but that just goes to show that you never know whose hands your product might reach. Following up on potential opportunities is also very important, that is the real work, and this opportunity wouldn’t have been realized without efficient follow-up,” she said.

Natasha Chalwell, the Marketing Director of the BVIPA also played a pivotal role in connecting JD's Candies with Windstar Cruises during last year's exhibition.

BVIPA celebrates partnership

"This collaboration exemplifies the power of seizing opportunities at industry events. Connecting local businesses like JD's Candies with global partners such as Windstar Cruises is a testament to the vibrant potential within our community,” the marketing director said.

“We are proud to celebrate the success of JD's Candies and reaffirm our commitment at the BVIPA to provide platforms for local businesses to showcase the cultural and culinary richness of the British Virgin Islands within the global cruise industry," Chalwell added.

The BVI Ports Authority said JD’s Candies’s success story has reinforced its commitment to bolstering local businesses where the accomplishment underscores dedication to spotlighting the unique charm and warm hospitality of the VI within the cruise tourism community.

Ms. Clarke you have caught my eye forever. I hope one day to get to shoot my shot, and see if the stars align for us to grow our businesses together. Things are great here, but I'm confident that you will only improve on it.

    Signed: Tall, Brown & Kingly.
