ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- There is no greater feeling than realising a dream of opening one’s own business. For Doneisha D. Maduro-Findlay, this has happened even sooner than anticipated.

Envy Stylz, a rebrand of Envy Salon, opened its doors on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Romasco House in Road Town, Tortola.

There to celebrate with the elated business owner was Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1); Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5); Junior Minister for Trade and Economic Development, Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (AL); Junior Minister for Tourism, Hon Sharie B. deCastro and Sixth District Representative, Hon Alvera Maduro Caines, who is the mother of Maduro-Findley.

The young entrepreneur previously managed and part-owned Envy Salon on Tortola Pier Park but has now assumed full ownership of the business and has rebranded it to Envy Stylz.

Childhood dream

"From a little girl all I ever wanted is to do hair," said Ms Maduro-Findley, who showered Nagico Insurances’ Managing Director, Mr Shan Mohamed for being one of the main persons to guide her into becoming a business owner.

"I want to thank Shan very much. He gave me the opportunity to be here sooner than I would have."

Honourable Maduro-Caines also confirmed that Mr Mohamed was instrumental in her daughter achieving her goal of having her own hair salon.

"Now you better make some money," Hon Maduro-Caines quipped.

A simple ribbon cutting ceremony saw the salon being blessed by Bishop John I. Cline and congratulatory remarks delivered by Premier Fahie and other legislators.

‘Persistence beats resistance’- Premier Fahie

Premier Fahie said: "I know it has been a struggle for her but I know one thing, it has proven that persistence beats resistance."

Hon Fahie also complimented Maduro-Findlay for mastering her craft and reaching the point of having her own business.

Hon deCastro said: "Today I speak as a friend and a sister to Doneisha. I have seen her write this vision for a very long time ago. She has been speaking it into existence for years and our little circle we have done everything possible to ensure that we always remind her that it’s possible."

Honourable Flax-Charles captioned her short message as a very big and significant day for the Territory.

"A big day for women, a big day for empowering our female counterparts."

Hon Flax-Charles added that she has followed Ms Findley from her earlier days when she participated in pageantry and later when she entered the field of cosmetology.

"I believe that our people must look up to a young lady such as Doneisha, who has worked very hard to get where she is today," Hon Flax-Charles remarked.

Apart from the well-trained and professional hair stylists, Envy Stylz boasts one of the most skillful barbers in the Territory; Kurt C. A. Pope aka ‘The Scissors Master’.

Persons wishing to make appointments at Envy Stylz can call 4953689, 5453689 or 341-3112 (barber).
