LIME donates computers, free internet to ESHS library
At the re-opening ceremony for the new library and resource centre on June 12, 2012, Minister for Education and Cultre Hon. Myron Walwyn, while giving brief remarks, took time out and thanked the telecommunications company for willingly coming onboard and offering their services after hearing about the project.
Hon. Walwyn said the school and the government are blessed to receive such a significant contribution from LIME. “The telecommunication company proves to show its willingness to support and advance our communities of the Virgin Islands.”
LIME provided the school with 20 fully functional computers and free internet for their new library.
The Minister announced that not only will the internet provided by LIME be accessible on the computers, but there is free and accessible Wi-Fi for students to use on their personal devices in a very constructive way.
Walwyn thanked General Manager of LIME, Sean Auguste and his team for getting onboard with the project.
Principal of ESHS, Ms. Melissa Amey said it is a vital asset to any community to fix anything within the learning environment that will benefit the students. Ms. Amey thanked LIME for rebuilding her faith and the faith of teachers and students of the ESHS that the community does care about the school.
Overwhelmed by their kind words, LIME’s General Manger Mr. Auguste said it was a privilege for the company to be involved in the betterment of the Territory's children.
“We cannot do everything, there is so much to be done for further development of our communities in the VI, but we are constantly looking for ways to help in the community.”
He said introducing technology to the school comes naturally to the company, seeing that they are a technological company. Auguste added that imagining the impacts of the new computers and the library on a whole is worth any donation.
“There will be tremendous joy, when we hear in the future that some students who came through ESHS and makes an impact on the world, with this new facility making an impact on them while they attended the school.”
Mr. Auguste told the audience present at the ceremony that they are committed to improving any area in education, sports and health in the Virgin Islands.
Minister Walwyn presented Mr. Auguste with a plaque for LIME's donation and support of the project.
