ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2022 Lia R. Claxton has departed these shores for the 71st Miss Universe Pageant slated for January 14, 2023, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The 18-year-old model and athlete, who aspires to become a lawyer, has said she is excited and sees it as a privilege to represent the [British] Virgin Islands on the international stage.

Claxton’s platform is Climate Change.

The Miss Universe BVI, who turns 19 on January 7, 2023, told a local media house recently that her reign has been an amazing experience and she is grateful for the opportunity.

She also said lots of hard work has been put into her preparation for the Miss Universe Pageant.

The teen queen left the Virgin Islands on January 3, 2023, and arrived in New Orleans, USA early this morning, January 5, 2023.

Claxton’s entourage includes Miss Universe BVI franchise holder Alecia Hamm.

Meanwhile, the public can help Miss Claxton advance to the semi-finals by logging on to https://www.missuniverse.com/delegates/lia-claxton and voting. The person with most votes will get to be a semi-finalist. Persons can also download the Miss Universe app to vote.
