Leon King offered $200K bail; $$$$ detained for three months!
Leon King pled not guilty to one count of the acquisition, possession or use of proceeds of criminal conduct.
He also has to surrender his travel documents and report to Cane Garden Bay police station every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between the hours of 6 am and 12 noon.
After making the bail offer Magistrate Tamia Richards stated that a person caught with over $136,000 must have a lot of money and she is only asking for $100,000. She also granted the Crown’s wish to detain the monies seized for three months, effective from today’s date.
According to the Crown, police observed King on January 24, 2012 around 2:25 pm travelling in and exiting a small vessel "Overeasy" close to the Frenchman’s Cay Bridge. The boat was searched and a black bag containing over $136,000 was found. King was the sole occupant of the vessel.
King is represented by Herbert McKenzie and Valston Graham appeared for the Crown.
A more detailed story to follow shortly.
