ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Not only was Lenell A. Stevens Jr, aka ‘LJ’, a crowd favourite, but he also sang his way into the books of the judges at the Soca Monarch Competition at Charlie Neil Frett Festiville last night, July 29, 2025.

‘LJ’ made history by winning both the 'Power' and 'Groovy' segments of the Soca Monarch Competition.

His winning songs were "Celeb Press Da Button" and “Body On Mines & Roll Call”.

The Groovy Segment saw competition from Bari, Ricko, Eccentric, Paido, Mya, LJ, Sistah Joyce, and RamonG.

The contestants in the Power Segment were Ricko, Diffy, Jarvy, Paido, Shemba, Mya, LJ, Bari, and RamonG.

    It's not too late to drop the price on those tickets. Village is too empty. It is also expensive to go. Festival cannot be an event to raise funds, it's a celebration.

      The village ticket prices will never be enough to recoup the cost they spend on entertainers alone .. until they get major sponsors they will have to charge for entry on some nights.
