Leave room for disappointment- Shereen Flax-Charles
Addressing the youths of the Virgin Islands on this problem that is very common, Mrs. Shereen Flax-Charles of Virgin Gorda, told the young people to never give up on their hopes and dreams.
She advised them to leave room for disappointment as “nothing comes easy, you have to fight and work hard for what u want.”
Mrs. Flax- Charles made these statements at the Eileen Parsons Auditorium on June 20, 2012 at the graduation ceremony of the Technical and Vocational programme.
She spoke of the challenges she encountered before finally reaching to a point that she desired in life. “It took me 14 years before I got my dream job at the BVI Tourist Board.”
She told the young people that even though it does not seem this way, the communities are behind them and wants them to be good citizens of the Virgin Islands (VI), maintain good work ethics and never lose sight of their goals.
In a challenge to the community she encouraged them to continue looking out for the youths of the VI, ensuring that they never give up. “When you see our youth stumble, help them up. Encouragement goes a long way, a helping hand goes a long way and you may never know how far your words and well wishes may take our young adults.”
She added that the VI on a whole should embrace the young people and help them to become productive, successful citizens within the territory.
