Law giving Governor reserve power is ‘immoral & unethical’- Claude O. Skelton-Cline
The march began at the Road Town Police Station and ended at the Governor’s Office, where some of those who gathered shared their thoughts.
Governor Pruce used the reserve power granted to him under the Constitution of the Virgin Islands to decide to remove Vanterpool as Acting CoP, though the Police Service Commission recommended that she be appointed to the position.
UK is an unfaithful partner
Social commentator Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline, during his contribution, said the Governor, as an individual, is not who they are fighting, as the Office of the Governor is not an individual but an institution of the United Kingdom (UK).
“We want to say to the United Kingdom that is the institution, that you have been and continues to be an unfaithful partner in this relationship, and we have marched here today in the words of our dear sister to begin the filing of our divorce papers from the United Kingdom.”
He continued, “This is a bad marriage, this is a toxic marriage, this is an abusive marriage, this is a marriage that violates our people.”
As it relates to Governor Pruce, Skelton-Cline said his recent moves to declare that he was simply following the Constitution and did not break any laws are correct.
The law itself is broken
Skelont-Cline, however, said that while Governor Pruce did not break any laws, the law is broken.
“There used to be laws that forbid us to learn to read, and they kept the law, but the law was broken…there used to be laws that forbid us to learn how to write, but the law itself was broken.”
He added that today, the legislation in the 2007 Constitution of the Virgin Islands gives him reserve power, but “there is something fundamentally wrong” with it.
“The law itself is immoral and unethical that you can have a population of some 16,000 voting individuals and one somebody can have a super majority vote and undo what the 16,000 people have said, there’s something wrong with that. This is the 21st century, this is the year of our Lord 2025, and still we are showered down with the rains of colonialism.”
Skelton-Cline declared that “enough is enough”.

For your convenience other than that our services is not needed. The Hispanics in the US voted for the Cheeto man thinking he was going to turn on blacks and he turned on the same Hispanics. They are now turning to the blacks to join forces with them.
