ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has said the recommendations listed in the second volume of the law enforcement review must be tackled with unity.

Speaking on the Virgin Islands Voice on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Dr Wheatley revealed that he has engaged Governor Daniel Pruce, together with Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5), in the National Security Council and at Cabinet “to make our views very clear and very well-known”.

All members of the House of Assembly (HoA), government and Opposition members, have rejected various conclusions about the Virgin Islands and recommendations listed in the over two hundred-page document prepared by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), which lays out three hundred and seventy-five recommendations.

The HMICFRS said these recommendations outlined in the second volume, or road map, cover a “wide spectrum of issues”.

‘Cracks & disunity can be exploited’- Premier Wheatley

In addition to reaching out to the Governor, Premier Wheatley said the government has reached across the aisle of the HoA to their colleagues in Opposition.

“It cannot be about the government; it has to be about all the representatives of the people of the Virgin Islands, working together and showing unity in response to these recommendations because, of course, if you don’t show that type of unity, if you have any cracks between you, those cracks and that disunity can be exploited,” he said.

Dr Wheatley explained that if disunity is shown, it can be used to force the recommendations on the VI.

“That is not something that we want, we want every single member to join together to lockstep.”

Earlier this week, April 28, 2025, three members of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, who also make up The Alliance, namely Opposition Leader Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6), Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) and Hon Stacy R. Mather (AL), met with Governor Pruce to discuss the recommendations of the Commisison of Inquiry and the second volume of the law enforcement review.

Hon Marlon A. Penn chose not to attend that meeting, citing the decision by the HoA to join forces and deal with it together. Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) stated that he was away from the Territory at the time the meeting occurred.

All HoA members agreed to sign letter to Governor- Premier Wheatley

Meanwhile, the Premier revealed that in the HoA, following discussions about the law enforcement review in April, it was proposed that a letter would be written to the governor and all thirteen members of the HoA would sign.

“That has been drafted and it has been circulated to all thirteen members. We’ve received feedback from members and we’ve made amendments to the letter, and that letter has now been sent to the Clerk of the House of Assembly, so that the Clerk can gather all the signatures from the members of the House.”

According to Premier Wheatley, the letter, not drafted by him, is very well-written and all members of the HoA had input.

“I don’t see how any member of the House of Assembly would disagree with signing such a letter, so I look forward to all thirteen members signing that letter and that we having a united front and a united voice,” he stated.

Law enforcement review should be embraced with open arms as we try to make the BVI a safer better place and move on from our corrupt political past.

Not if that means giving the Uk and the White man greater power over us! No way!

You prefer a lawless place run by black people to a lawful place run by white people. How odd that you would want that. How about use white people's help to make the place more law abiding and then go for Independence and still have a lawful that is run by black people. Just an update. The UK is not run just by white people these days. They moved on. So should you.

If members of the HOA call for the Greedy Bill to be repealed, the public might start to trust them again. Then, such a letter will have some impact

We as a people- forget too fast, forgive too quickly, accept too often, and negotiate in favour of the oppressors every time. This is the reason, we as a people, will continue to suffer and remain dormant, while the oppressors continue to prosper, align themselves in positions of power and authority, and call the shots.

Our focus must shift. It's time to pour our energy into building a thriving, unified, innovative, and self-sufficient Virgin Islands. We must redirect our energy inward, towards eventually shivering the umbilical cord, and gain unified grow towards self-determination. Toward a Virgin Islands we know is possible.

It would be helpful to know what the Purpose and Goal of this Alliance…They appear demented and troubled. From whom are they receiving guidance. They are creating a rod for their backs. Do they expect to convince the people of the Virgin Islands in the next election that they have the ability to represent the best interests of the people. It is evident that they do not. Facebook appearances with schools and providing food to seniors, putting up a billboard with someone who won a contest or competition is not it. Demonstrate to the people wise leadership

The people have been asking for the greedy bill to be repealed. Why haven't the Alliance taken the lead on that so that the greedy bill monies can be put to better use. I know the answer, but do you? These fake *&^%$ people!

The issue in reference to the 375 recommendations Volume 2 is extremely serious in determining whether or not we are to experience freedom from dictatorial oppression or to be further inslaved by our senior partner, (the UK) in a lopsided relationship (imbalance partnership) continuation.
I have commented that we are not cows to be branded and drenched, neither are we sheep to be sheared, and their wools to be sold for monetary profits, but rather we are equally human, as do people of different ethnic diversity worldwide.

I don't agreed with our Premier on many of his political positions, neither did I agrred with others B.V.I political leaders before him on all their positions. But on the topic issue, I am 100% in agreement with him, and same should all eleven (11) other members of both the cabinet and opposition.

The human brain has tw half, but not separated, divided nor diverse, if normal, neither should invite even a thought of confronting (manning up to, fighting wisely, opposing) against all ungodly plans plotted against us individually, our children, our grandparents, our grandchildren, our neighbors, their children, their grandparents, their children, and grand children, too.

We will not accept unjust recommendations that do not take into consideration or God given rights of choice, not would agree with anyone who does.
People that has no power to straighten their own crookedness, neither should they be allowed to play the role of God over us.
