ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The culmination of the Blenheim Trust 5K Race Series is scheduled for this Saturday May 10, 2014, with the runners taking part in the Ladies First Dual Carriageway Dash.

According to Organisers it is the fifth and final race of the Blenheim Trust 5k series and has a start/finish on the AO Shirley Ground.

The race will be ‘Ladies First”, basically meaning they are given a 5 minute head start and are encouraged to wear running skirts and beat the blokes to the finish!

Timing though begins from each individual start and therefore it’s only a fun way to add some spice to the event as no one is penalized in overall time.

The Dual Carriageway Dash is flat and fast – course:

Start at the 200m line, run 330m around the track to exit at the South Gate and run on the LHS of the dual carriageway to Purcell roundabout (with traffic).

Keeping on LHS return to Bobby’s roundabout and first left to Scotiabank, First Bank, along Noel Lloyd Park, round CIBC First Caribbean and back to Bobby’s roundabout, (runners may cut inside the roundabout and cross the dual carriageway as they deem fit). Return to the track via the South Gate to finish at the 100m finish line.

Series awards will be presented immediately after the race to the top 3 overall run and race walk, top 3 in each age group and all entrants completing a series of 3 races.

Refreshments will be served during the awards presentation including the world famous Mrs Robinson’s Banana bread!

Following the Event on Tortola and scheduled for the following weekend is the Dive BVI Half Marathon and 10k – Saturday May 17, 2014 – register now at www.racevirgingorda.com.
