ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- [British] Virgin Islands (VI) Fashion Designer Kristin C. Frazer recently pulled off one of her biggest Fashion Shows to date on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at an iconic location – the Roundabout in Road Town.

Frazer, along with two of her mentees Akeem Stanley and J’Quelah Callwood, featured pieces from their individual collections. Stanley and Callwood presented a 5-piece collection to introduce their design aesthetic to the community while Frazer showcased a 50-piece collection that spoke to swimwear, resortwear, costume, and avant-garde designs.

50-piece collection, 50 models!

The event was presented to an audience that sat around the Roundabout with models of diverse backgrounds in ethnicity, career and age.

“It was important for me to represent my pieces in the most diverse way, and what better way than to have a 50-piece collection with 50 models of all ages, genders and backgrounds. My oldest model was Mr Bob Christopher [husband to the late Delores Christopher], and I had varying people from within the community of various career backgrounds like Lawyers, Doctors, Principals, Private sector workers, entrepreneurs, and more. This truly was an inclusive show and I’m happy with the end result”, said Ms Frazer in a press release on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

According to the press release, the backdrop of the event stemmed from the brand celebrating 15 years in business, and creatively, Frazer chose to make a bold move by challenging herself to express her creativity through VI Culture, recycled items, out-of-the-box concepts and costumes that reflect and depict various scenes and things around the VI.

“My designs ranged from the froth that the sea creates once washed up on shore to our old school brick oven to the use of our Scrap or Shag rug concept. It was also important to recycle and one of my favorite pieces includes the Fringe Dress also known as the “hang-tag” dress because it was all hang-tags that I kept from customers that have purchased from me over the years and I turned these tags into a dress that has the familiarity of a fringe dress….simple but pretty cool”, Frazer said.

Show attracted celebrities!

It was also stated that celebrities Michelle Williams and Yvette Noel-Schure wore custom looks from Trèfle for the runway and both guests have expressed love for the [British] Virgin Islands and its creatives whom they will continue to support in the near future.

“I did my job in giving a voice and space to some of our creatives in the BVI through the show and our private panel discussion prior to the event so Michelle and Yvette truly made an impact here and this is just the beginning for what the future of the creatives look like within the territory. This not-for-profit event was for the future creatives of the BVI”, Frazer said.

Wrapping up the show was the final event and afterparty held at Little Thatch where guests enjoyed food by two local Chefs, Chef Brentfield Lettsome and Ruth Gabriel of Mill Round Farms.

Congratulations to Miss Fraser! However it was completely crappy to keep this at the Road Town roundabout and inconvenience the general public and traffic in the capital for TWELVE HOURS. Ridiculous and selfish. What if every business did this? Use the pier park next time.

Felt the same way. Was in an emergency and the lines for the traffic in the evening was very inconvenient.

It was pure assishness to put this show by the round a bout

The feedback from those who have attended was extraordinary, with many agreeing that it has renewed their faith in our community and the talent of our young designers

Exactly. I am still trying to figure out the design concept. It wasn't meshing. Oh let me go have my eye wide shut moment.

Some of the pieces can be worn separately, however there was no cohesive concept to the designs....sorry, not meant to hurt anyone's feelings but am only pointing out the obvious.

Having an opinion not favouring something neither makes one messy nor jealous.

It was foolishness to shut down traffic in the area and charge a ridiculous amount of money for that event even for those who can afford but have the common sense not to throw away money.

Nobody jealous. People just stating facts. The elite will always feel they can do what they want even if it done make sense. Without even thinkkng about others.

It made me wonder what is in her brand or business to close the entire roundabout and inconvenience the public? It is just because she is a local? How many people does her business employs, how much taxes does it pays? What power that she has over the government agencies to be able to get approval to close our main road just for the fashion show! Our country most of the time have wrong priorities.

It is good to think outside the box. I congratulate KF for being a visionary! While traffic was a headache yes it was just one day. Lets be grateful and support others genuinely.
