PASEA ESTATE, Tortola, VI - The RTW Group of Companies comprising of Road Town Wholesale Trading Ltd, Riteway Food Markets, Fine Foods, Harbor Market, and Riteway Home is informing the public of the immediate recall of Kraft Heinz American Processed Cheese Slice 16oz.

In a release today from the Company's Marketing Manager Dawn Callwood, RTW said Kraft has announced the voluntary recall of approximately 83,800 cases of individually wrapped Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices that were shipped to a limited number of customers.

“The voluntary recall comes as a precaution after a temporary issue developed on one of our wrapping machines, making it possible that a thin strip of the individual film may remain on the slice after the wrapper has been removed.”

The company detailed that If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could be unpleasant and potentially cause a gagging or choking hazard.

Only a listed batch affected

The release added that only Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices with the case/package information listed below were affected. No other varieties or sizes are included in the recall and the issue was discovered after Kraft received several consumer complaints about finding the plastic stuck to a slice, including six complaints of consumers saying they choked or gagged in connection with the issue.

However, no injuries or serious health issues have been reported. RTW Group added that Kraft Heinz has since fixed the machine that wrapped the affected slices and all other processing machines have been thoroughly inspected.

Every month they’re recalling something, why they just don’t recall the whole supermarket?

It is the manufacturer not the supermarket. Remember, they sell hundreds of different brands

Because the Virgin Islands doesn't have as strict guidelines like the USA, they buy large quantities of rejects with slight defects that cannot pass in most places. These are purchased on barging for low but then sold to us at our extreme price rates of the BVI where they make record profits. Some of the recalls here are not even mentioned in the USA. The amount of food goes to waste would prevent hungry homes in the BVI. Can't expect nothing better from any government as they have partnership/shares in one or multiple.

No one in Tortola died from any of these products as yet.
So therefore it shouldn't be a problem.
    Just pure rumors.
