ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A free concert dubbed the ‘Non-stop’ concert set for June 30, 2023, will feature Jamaican artist ‘Konshens’ as the headline, along with a host of other artists.

This concert, which is a further celebration of the direct commercial flights from the US mainland to the VI by American Airlines, was announced today, June 2, 2023, by Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) during a special press conference.

The event will be held at Brandywine Bay in the Seventh District.

Other artists will include Rock City, Vibe, Kamau A. Georges, Jeremy Vanterpool and more.

Garfield Delano Spence aka 'Konshens', has hits such as 'Winner', 'Rasta Impostor', 'This Means Money', 'Good Girl Gone Bad', 'Gal Dem A Talk', 'Realest Song', 'Represent', 'Do Sumn', 'Forward', and 'Gal a bubble'.

Konshens has a large fanbase in KenyaTrinidad and TobagoGuyana and Europe.

'Commitment' to tourism

“Not only is this concert a celebration of our nonstop service between Miami and Beef Island, but it also signals this government's commitment to entertainment tourism, which enhances our overall tourism product by providing locals and visitors with activities that are vibrant and exciting,” Premier Wheatley said.

Dr Wheatley noted that with the engagement of the Events Manager at the BVI Tourism Board (BVITB), Mr Dirk L. Walters, people can expect more events throughout the year to encourage an influx of more tourists from North America and across the region.

The Premier also said the particular project was part of diversifying the tourism product, given the expected influx of visitors to the VI.

He added there were several factors that went into determining the lineup, including the availability of artists, costs, and more.

"Mr Walters reminded me that the concert will be completely free to encourage persons from around the world to come and enjoy the event."

I think everyone in this country needs to strike by not attending and further by blocking the roads to brandywine Bay with placards, cars and the like. I do not know anyone who is a tax paying person who believes this is a sensible use of money. There are so many other priorities. I do not understand why people voted for this incompetent person.

Brand wine Bay...Naaah.. Not an attractive site,. A real parking issue...I know you want to have the event in the 7 district but having an event is all about having a successful even, that will attract as much people as possible with massive parking spaces and bringing as much economical activity to the country as possible a very good initiative; sad to say.. Brandy wine Bay is not the location..
      • Better than CGB (05/06/2023, 15:43) Like (0) Dislike (1) Reply
Brandywine parking is 1000% better than CGB. There is a huge land area on the beach side that can be used for VIP parking. There are large spaces on the other side of the road also for that private landowners can fix up to be used for parking also. And the College grounds and Marine Bldg parking lots can be used to run a proper shuttle service, that will take less than 5 mins to get to venue.

These people BEEN using God’s name for their own SELFISH motives.

Many ASSUME God’s blessing them or granted them something when the devil also gives those who follow his ways want they want so they need to STOP PUTTING GOD’S NAME IN THINGS HE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN.

      Matthew 6:1, 24

6:1 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.“

Hopefully they have a shuttle running from the college to the event to minimize traffic and block off the roads from Fish Bay and before Brandywine as well. Only to allow essential and residential vehicles through. Maybe another shuttle in Fish Bay area. #winwin

Why does everything have to have a negative statement? First of all it is to make the outer world to come and experience the BVI , they may in turn stay for a few days and enjoy the island. That' will give the hotels and restaurants a chance to make some money. The taxi drivers will also benefit, so let us look on the positive side and enjoy.

Got ya, however, before we invite the outer world to come and experience the BVI do you think it would be fair to invite the outer world to experience raw sewage running in the City and have to drive on messed up roads everywhere you turn? I don’t have a problem with extending an invitation to the outer world to experience the BVI, HOWEVER, WE MUST GET OUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT AND IN ORDER. YOU CANNOT GET MAD AT ME FOR SAYING WHAT I SAID RIGHT?

Everything have to have a negative statement because this government and the sh** that they have been doing since election makes no sense. Is there a cost benefit analysis or visitors' survey to support your statement that a free concert with a Jamaican dancehall artiste will give hotels and restaurants a chance to make some money and if so, how many hotels and how much money? Taxi drivers will benefit with or without a concert and so your point is?
