PROSPECT REEF, Tortola, VI - “We need to explain to the kids when they see the people there and all the cops, they are just like what’s going on? We just have to tell them that everything’s ok we are just sharing the building with the court… it’s not the best for the kids, it’s not normal,” said Mr Emmanuel Gilbert, Manager Swim with the Dolphins.

This has been an issue not just for the children visiting Dolphin Discovery but it is as much of a concern for persons visiting the Prospect Reef Magistrate’s Court. Many view the coming together of people for such vastly different reasons as very distractive and in some cases intrusive to the privacy of tourists.

On many occasions the days when court is in session are the very days when patrons to the Dolphin Discovery are at its peak, while court goers are fully dressed and most time stuck on the outside because of limited space in the court room, they are forced to be jostling with the other set of people dressed almost naked, competing for the bathroom, something that becomes almost very distasteful at times.

“Definitely we have to work on it…. That’s very important and I will talk to the administration of the hotel because they manage the building so maybe we can do something… a division to direct the people…. Not to share it with people in bikini and the people from the court. So we will work on it,” said Mr Gilbert.

Mr Gilbert is the new manager of Swim with the Dolphins being on the ground for just some three months now originally from Cancun, Mexico. And ahead of addressing the issues of the mixing of people as they share grounds with the Prospect Reef Magistrate’s Court, they are also working on improving their section to make it a more attractive place.

Upgrade

According to Mr Gilbert, the management will is focused on improving the outlook of the Dolphin Discovery facility. He said that most of the beautification process will not cost the business much in terms of cash as they for the greater part, recycling materials on the ground.

“The cost is not going to be much; we are trying to use recycling materials. We are building a big wall with pallets, you can find pallets all around the island so we are just trying to use that materials. As a part of our culture at dolphin discovery we like to re-use, re-cycle and all of that so we want to work on that line.”

The works to be done will seek to maintain the Caribbean flare of the facility. Gilbert succeeded his countryman Carlos Guerrero as manager at the end of September 2014.
