BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- The Rotary Club of Road Town’s pre-festival event for children, Kiddies Fiesta, is back this Saturday, July 29, 2023, after a 3-year absence mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The highly anticipated event for children and adults alike will be held at Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School ground from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Performers & activities

Entry to the venue is free and patrons can look forward to several exciting activities to choose from and they will also be treated to a series of performances.

Speaking about the event on Talking Points on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, July 24, 2023, Alyssa Shepherd-Hodge, Director of Image at Rotary Club of Road Town, shared that persons can look forward to water slides, bouncy houses, face-painting, video games, ring toss and more.

Among the performers will be Pure Drive Squad, EVO HD, ABM Entertainment, Nouveau Royale, BVI Dance School, Moko Jumbies, and Boynes Taekwando Academy.

The excitement will be backed up by musical entertainment from DJ Malie, DJ Grimm, DJ Carly Cartel, DJ Mac Milli and DJ Triple Xtreme.

Food and drinks will be on sale.

‘It is going to be a fun day’- Dr June M. Samuel

“Kiddies Fiesta is back, and it is going to be fun. It is going to be a fun day,” Rotarian Dr June M. Samuel exclaimed of the family event.

Dr Samuel also highlighted that the Kiddies Fiesta is the first fundraiser for Rotary Club of Road Town for its Rotary year, which runs from July to June. She said the funds raised will go towards funding community service projects of the club.

Giveaways!

Meanwhile, Shepherd-Hodge announced there will also be giveaways of school supplies at the Kiddies Fiesta.

Additionally, the intention is to bring back the parade next year and registration for that will start on Saturday.

Kiddies Fiesta was first held in 1993 at A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground.

Shepherd-Hodge said the pre-festival event was initially designed specifically for children and to also get them involved in costume building.

Persons of ‘all ages’ welcomed to attend

Hosts of the show Violet Gaul, Damien C. Grange and Elvin Grant wanted to know what age groups the Kiddies Fiesta was catering for.

“All ages!” Samuel and Shepherd-Hodge replied in unison.

    Play child appropriate music. We have to be mindful of AND responsible for he content we are exposing our children, even at public events. People can argue for other events where children should not be in attendance...this is not one of those events. Keeping it PG people.
