The Virgin Islands native distinguished himself as a long jumper for the Texas A&M Aggies. 

During his senior season, Dawson earned NCAA Indoor Second Team All-American honours, won a bronze medal in the Southeastern Conference indoor long jump, and was named to the All-SEC Third Team. He also recorded a personal-best mark of 7.89 metres, placing him fourth on Texas A&M’s all-time indoor long-jump list. 

Dawson’s success at Texas A&M builds on an accomplished collegiate career. Before joining the Aggies, he earned NJCAA First Team All-American honours in the indoor long jump in 2024, along with NJCAA Second Team All-American recognition in the outdoor long jump and 4x100-metre relay in 2023. 

Represented the VI

Dawson has also made a lasting impact in the Virgin Islands. He is a four-time VI national champion in the long jump, winning titles in 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025. He also captured the National Championships in the high jump in 2024 and 2025. 

His accomplishments have helped place VI athletics on the international stage. Dawson became the first male athlete from the Virgin Islands to compete in the Southeastern Conference after signing with Texas A&M, marking a historic achievement for the territory. 

As Dawson turns his tassel and begins the next chapter of his life, his accomplishments serve as an inspiration to young athletes across the Virgin Islands.

His journey from Tortola to one of the United States’ leading collegiate athletic conferences reflects the dedication, discipline, and determination required to succeed both academically and athletically.
