FAT HOGS BAY, Tortola, VI– Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), while singing Kes’ ‘Wotless’ live on radio, has announced that the Trinidad and Tobago-based musician and band will be headlining the 2023 Emancipation Festival stage show in the Virgin Islands (VI) scheduled for August 5, 2023.

The Premier made the announcement on the June 19, 2023, edition of ‘Da Morning Braff’ radio show on Tola Radio 100.5 FM in the Virgin Islands with host Floyd Burnett aka Heritage.

The Premier was dispelling rumours and telling the listening audience that he was the mind behind the June 30, 2023, non-stop concert featuring Jamaican artist ‘Konshens’ as the headline, along with a host of other artists.

“I don't want anybody blaming any other Minister, any other member of the House of Assembly. This was my decision, it wasn't a Deputy Premier's decision, it wasn't a Minister for Communications and Works' decision, it wasn't the Education Minister's decision, it wasn't the Minister of Health's decision.

“It wasn't any other Junior Minister’s decision. This was my decision, Premier Honourable Natalio Wheatley, it's on me… Tell them call my name, and I will take the blame,” he added while announcing Kes for the Emancipation Festival 2023.

'Commitment' to tourism

The premier in his announcement of his non-stop concert highlighted that Konshens has a large fanbase in Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Europe.

“Not only is this concert a celebration of our nonstop service between Miami and Beef Island, but it also signals this government's commitment to entertainment tourism, which enhances our overall tourism product by providing locals and visitors with activities that are vibrant and exciting,” Premier Wheatley said.

Dr Wheatley noted that with the engagement of the Events Manager at the BVI Tourism Board (BVITB), Mr Dirk L. Walters, people can expect more events throughout the year to encourage an influx of more tourists from North America and across the region.

We need the concert to release some stress. Why are we arguing it’s not going to stop the concert . Let who want to go get out and enjoy themselves and who don’t want to go stay home and be miserable. The lVIP didn’t do anything in four years and we vote them back for another four years so wa we bawling fa.

St. Kitts having Burna Boy and other up to di time artists while BVI is just all about wine and wuk up. The funny part is the ones who kill to keep BVI in the religious psychosis most likely in St. Kitts enjoying themselves and will come back here teaching and preaching sh**. BVI is beyond a hot mess.
