NASSAU, Bahamas- The [British] Virgin Islands (VI) ended its participation at the 50th Carifta Games in The Bahamas with two silver medals.

Kenyatta Grate gave the VI its second silver when she placed second in the Girls 200M U20 Final on the final day of competition at the Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas, on Monday, April 10, 2023.

That final was full of drama, as Jamaica’s Sabrina Dockery, the U17 champion at that distance in 2022, and Antigua’s La’Nica Locker were eliminated due to false starts.

The lanky Grate; however, kept her composure and ran a Personal Best time, 24.11, in Lane 1, to capture the silver medal.

The race was won by Sanaa Fredericks of Trinidad and Tobago in 23.60. Amari Pratt of The Bahamas took bronze in 24.17.

The VI’s only other medal, also a silver, was won by Jah'kyla Morton in the Under-17 Girls High Jump.
