ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Kenyatta Boynes aka ‘Yhats’, who is serving life imprisonment with eligibility of parole after 30 years for murder and attempted murder, recently saw his challenge to the convictions dismissed in the Court of Appeal.

Boynes was in October 2016 found guilty of the shooting to death of Paul Prentice and attempted murder of another man, committed on December 14, 2014, in Road Town. His life sentence was handed down in the High Court on February 6, 2017.

He had also received a 10-year sentence for the attempted murder charge.

Boynes, who was represented by Paul Taylor QC in the Court of Appeal, contended among other things, that the trial judge erred in that she failed to direct the jury properly in accordance with section 112 of the Evidence Act and the Turnbull guidelines, in relation to recognition evidence and supporting evidence, wrongly admitted evidence of CCTV images which were inadmissible and misdirected the jury in relation to the CCTV evidence.

Appeal dismissed

The Appeal’s Court; however, dismissed the appeal and affirmed Boynes’ conviction.

Justices of Appeal Mario Michel and Paul Webster concluded that there was no miscarriage of justice and were of “the considered view that all of the grounds of appeal advanced on behalf of the appellant are unmeritorious. The appeal is therefore dismissed, and the appellant’s conviction is affirmed.”

The decision was handed down on February 23, 2022, and published on the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court’s website.

He need to spend the entire sentence that was handed down. He was the one that choose to let his stupidity, arrogance and ignorance cloud his judgement. look where you at now. And the question is, did you get your money and products back after you pull the trigger? As far as I am concerned, you out play yourself. You are right where you are, you made that choice by living the street gangsters lifestyle and being stupid and hard headed.

Alcohol and drugs are spirits. They are meant to kill steal and destroy. If these truths were instilled in our youngsters as part of their schooling we would have a better chance of guiding them later in life. Unfortunately no one in authority really gives a damn it's all about getting rich to enjoy the fruits of the world the flesh and the devil. A gun and drugs confer a spirit of power that blinds those in possession until it is too late. The pain and anguish caused by these substances rival and possibly out rank that of war. Our world is run by injustice and evil.
