Another sinecure for a well-connected family member. How often do elections occur? Why is there a need for a "Deputy Minister," and assuming that there is, how does this man's prior endeavors qualify him for the position? Just a ridiculous expenditure.

Silly rabbit! Unless you have seen his CV then you should not be making these comments. It must be a crime then to share a last name and it must always mean that the reason for your placement is due to another and not off your own merits. Stop it. Those who know this young man know how capable he is, how much of a hard worker he is, how much he deserves this and has earned this. It's thinking like this, the assumptions, that keep this country back and we can't get anywhere. Also where did you see it say "Deputy Minister"? Another example of why we cannot get anywhere.. reading is fundamental people

...just maybe, if more people used their energy to study hard, work hard, and stay focused on what they're meant to instead of watching and blaming other people and circumstances for their failures and shortcomings, they might find their names up there going far with the "certain names" as well. Just sayin

I don't even know the dude, but I am a mother who just grateful the headline is not something else negative. If he was sick, in the police hand or caught with drugs youall woulda been singing another song. We pose to be better than this.

Mr. Wheatley, go ahead and disappoint your enemies who wishing that you will fall. Rise higher than anybody could have imagine. The same peope who blast you will celebrate you. You might even end up helping some of them. Only thing is that only them and God will know them is the crooks he wished for your downfall.

The commentary here for the most part is an indictment on the society whether they be from locals or expats. The young man shares a last name with the Premier but only God knows if and how related they are. What about celebrating the fact that a young Virgin Islander who is clearly bright, sufficiently level-headed with not only experience but degrees he worked hard to earn, has been appointed to a significant and critical position in Government creating generational transition and continuity which will benefit all of us if he succeeds. No wonder the young people who leave here to study elsewhere are not scrambling to return to serve their country. This young man did return and is committed to serving his community and this mess above is what the society has to offer. C'mon man. We can do better and should. Congratulations Mr Wheatley. Nuff love, support and prayers out here for you and for the country, rooting for you to succeed, for the country to succeed so all of us benefit.
