Kaidija Martin passes

Kaidija Martin, a student of the Elmore Stoutt High School, said goodbye to a life of pain and discomfort when she succumbed to Lupus, a disease which had stricken her body for many years.
According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online, Kaidija died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Puerto Rico over a week ago.
Kaidija, whose mom also succumbed to Lupus, was a special person to those who knew her or of her condition as she was seen as a strong person. She touched the hearts with her singing talent as she appeared and sang at especially churches.
She loved doing the things girls do, especially have her hair and make-up done and taking selfies.
Kaidija’s struggles touched the hearts of many
Over the years, many persons reached out to Kaidija and her family to assist, mainly with medical expenses, and many fundraisers were held.
One of the most touching was back in 2012 when Kaidija’s 10 year old classmate, Frances de Castro, raised monies through a sustained effort after reading an article posted by this news site in mid-November 2012 which detailed Kaidija’s illness and accompanying financial struggles to meet her hospital bills.
Kaidija Martin will be buried on Friday July 7, 2017 at the Greenland Burial Ground after viewing and church service at the Long Look Church of God of Prophecy which starts at 9:30 A.M. Persons are asked to dress in purple.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. This results in symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs.
The management and staff of Virgin Islands News Online extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of Kaidija Martin.
