JVD primary & secondary schools cramped, says principal

GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI – One of the main concerns for the Principal of the Jost Van Dyke Primary and Secondary schools is spacing, and according to her until there is a sketch of the new proposed building in print “the reality remains that we are cramped for space especially at the High School”.

Marva Martin made this disclosure at the JVD graduation and prize giving ceremony on July 1, 2012 at the JVD Methodist Church.

“Every year the Jost Van Dyke Primary and Secondary schools experience an increase in the size of classes but the reality is that the physical infrastructure remains the same,” she told the large gathering.

However, she is optimistic that every effort will be made to get the new school and that alternative measures will be put in place to accommodate the students for the upcoming school year.

Virgin Islands News Online understands that the secondary division can only facilitate six students, and Principal Martin is looking to have it expanded to accommodate 14.

The secondary division goes up to second form before the students relocate to the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS).

Why should they leave JVD to come to Tortola for school? That is bull, accommodations should be made for them at home. In this day and age they shouldn't have to travel to Tortola for school. Mr. Christopher start helping the people on JVD you are their representative.
