GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI – Students at the Jost Van Dyke Primary School now have something additional to smile about after a handful of staff members at Caribbean Insurers Ltd (CIL), descended on the school today, January 31, 2014 to assist with a makeover.

Along with a few student volunteers, the group spent the day by assisting with repainting the exterior walls and several rooms at the school and also refurbishing several picnic tables previously donated to the institution.

Recognising that there may not be as much resources available for schools located in Jost Van Dyke, Managing Director at CIL, Mr Brian Jermyn related, “we’ve seen the state of the school and we have a good relationship with the principal and when we found out the school needed some TLC, tender loving care… we decided it was a good time to help and asked a few of our staff members to attend.”

Although the company is not considered the school’s official adopt-a-school sponsor, Mr Jermyn said he felt the company was just trying to see what it could do to assist. “We’re just happy to help out,” he emphasised.

He noted that the company has managed to make other donations over the last few years to the school, including filing cabinets and several refurbished computers.

Meanwhile, Principal Marva Martin commented that the exercise was a very important one and noted that it was a good move by the company. “I’m always appreciative and grateful of donations from Caribbean Insurers Ltd especially because we have developed this partnership and their contributions are always welcomed,” she added.

Insurance Underwriting Supervisor at CIL, Ms Ruth EQ Phillips, said the cost of the exercise was immaterial to the company and the most important thing was getting the job done. “Whatever their needs are, we get it and supply it…. We give a professional first class service.”

Phillips noted that the company would continue its efforts at strengthening their relationship with the school.

This is how it should be done man. GREAT JOB!!! If half of the companies here can do this imagine what a society we will have and imagine how the youth feel when they see people working together for the greater good? Government cannot do all! Once people put their heads together you would be surprised what great things we can achieve...

Great job CIL. Hope that other companies would do likewise. To icu.gov and ann, you should have placed your comments on hold for a different forum. Right now it is only fitting to give credit to whom credit is due.
