GREAT HARBOUR, Jost van Dyke, VI – With an undersea electricity cable having arrived on the island, according to Second District Representative Hon Melvin M. Turnbull, the people of Jost van Dyke should soon see the return of stable electricity.

“I know the Minister for Communication and Works is working tirelessly on fixing the power situation here… I saw the cable come over on the barge, so I am grateful for that to be established,” Opposition Member Hon Turnbull said at the opening of the new Jost van Dyke Primary School on January 18, 2024.

Residents of Jost van Dyke have been facing power challenges since September 2023 as a result of issues with an undersea cable supplying the sister island with electricity from the power grid on Tortola.

Cable damaged since September

While a temporary generator has been supplying electricity to the islands, it has not come without challenges.

Reports are that keeping the generator stocked with thousands of gallons of diesel, has cost the BVIEC thousands of dollars and this has been a financial challenge with almost weekly generator malfunctions which puts the entire island out of power.

Get it straight, it's a scam by the green energy pushers that make you believe that wind and sun will give you all the power you need, ddaahh! It's like you are saying there is no sunset or calm days, why isn't it been use to power USA, UK and Europe who are killing Africans and install puppet government so they can get uranium to steal for nuclear power plant which is the onliest cheap power along with hydro power, the batteries to run a system you spoke of mean more pressure on Africans to extract their resources to make battery, and would be the greatest fire hazard explosion near residence. Stop enriching these projects the white people come as sales person to fool you on in the Caribbean.

The victim mentality is strong. Not everything wrong with the world is the fault of "the white people".
